Role overview
Effective management of operational schedule and implementation of Strata systems & products on clients mining equipment. The Area Manager is responsible for carrying out and managing all the service-related functions appropriately. He/she is primarily responsible for enhancing the quality of services that are being provided to the customers. He/she makes sure that the work is delegated properly so that efficient services are being rendered to the end customer. Responsible for sustainability and profitability of the SLA’s and Training agreements with customers.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage subordinates, facilitate interdepartmental communication and allocate tasks and resources as needed.
- Manage performance of direct operations staff.
- Disciplining employees to agreed policies and procedures
- Drive staff development.
- Weekly report on tasks performed in that week
- Monitor SLA performance and drive corrective action where targets are at risk
- Attend all client meetings as requested and/or scheduled
- Provide meaningful reporting to Senior Management in a timely and effective manner
- To design strategies and ensure that all day-to-day services have been controlled and that all the clients' needs have been completed successfully
- To make recommendations and design policies and rules that will reduce the costs and improve the efficiency of the services
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Diploma in electrical engineering or equivalent qualification
- 5 years of managerial experience within mining environment
- Trade Test in electrical engineering
- Flameproof and Gas testing qualification
- Valid Driver’s License and own transport
- Must have own accommodation
- Knowledge of mining legislation including Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, Minerals Act, Environmental legislation Act
- Good understanding of Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act
- Knowledge of engineering codes of practices and procedures within Coal and Hard rock operations in SA
- Knowledge of best practices and new technologies relating to electrical and electronic engineering
- Flame proofing and Gas Testing knowledge
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (Both written and verbal)
- Ability to work under pressure and interact with clients at various on a management level
